He thought by getting a tattoo he would save himself from the corporate life that looks down upon people who may look different, or life a different lifestyle. I found this really intriguing because it is a really interesting reason behind getting a tattoo. He did this because he said he never wanted to work in a corporate world where people are judged for expressing themselves through their appearance. Travis got his first tattoo visibly on the back of his hand.

I got that tattoo down my spine because I think it represents the backbone of my personal values. Also, I am a big fan of the band Blink 182, of which Travis Barker is the drummer. The tattoo that is on my spine is a quote from Shakespeare that says “love all, trust a few, do wrong to none”, so I would say that it definitely expresses my values. Most of my tattoos are not visible, but I have a couple that are visible depending on my clothes. In addition to my outfits, I also have a few tattoos and multiple piercings. This is why I think that some of my values and beliefs can be seen through what I wear and how I wear my clothes. My parents never emphasized that appearance was important, they always focused on personality and personal values. I think that this guided the way that I dress, because I never really dress up for things because I was never around that kind of style when I was younger and developing into the person I am now. Just by looking at them you can almost tell that they are physical education teachers. My parent’s wardrobe decisions definitely express their views and beliefs. teachers, so growing up I never saw them wear suits and dresses to work, it was always a t-shirt and sweat pants or shorts. The things that I wear and the way that I present myself is usually pretty casual, which is quite consistent with my personality. I think by looking at my physical appearance it can be assumed that I have a pretty laid back and easygoing personality. Most of the time I wear things because they are comfortable, however I definitely have a specific style that I keep pretty consistent.

I have never been one to over think my outfits or clothing choices. ~Investigate how physical appearance affects definitions of identity and belonging. ~Evaluate personal values and paradigms around body decoration and physical beauty.
